Dragon Ball is a Japanese manga series composed and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. It was initially serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995, with the 519 individual parts distributed into 42 tankōbon volumes by Shueisha. Dragon ball Ball was at first motivated by the established Chinese novel Journey to the West. The series follows the adventures of the hero, Goku, from his youth through adulthood as he prepares in hand to hand fighting and investigates the world looking for the seven spheres known as the Dragon Balls, which summon a wish-giving mythical serpent when accumulated. Along his voyage, Goku makes a few good friends and fights a variety if villains, many of whom additionally look for the Dragon Ball
